The baseline is Blizzard’s 2019 recreation of original World of Warcraft, using its historical primer and content plan. Later Classic expansions, seasonal modes and modern WoW are separate products.

More choices, with Classic roots

Classes and specializations are being revised. Blizzard announces new abilities and talent updates. [source] [source]

That includes new race/class combinations as well as revisions to classes and specializations. The race and class guide separates the confirmed additions from the unverified full roster.

Transmog will be opt-in. Blizzard names it among the player-choice options. [source]

A continuing world

Forever is planned to grow through continuing updates. Blizzard describes an enduring world, rather than a seasonal mode. [source] [source]

The distinction is between the historical six-phase 2019 Classic plan and a new adventure intended to keep receiving updates. It is not evidence that every later update must follow a particular gearing philosophy. Historical content plan

What remains unresolved?

Future tier progression and catch-up rules need verification. The official roadmap is not a complete gearing specification.

Neither a promise of permanent best-in-slot gear nor a guarantee of “horizontal only” progression follows from the reveal. Detailed realm rules, transfers and loot distribution also remain open questions. The FAQ collects those practical limits alongside the known features.
